This is probably one of the unhealthiest cakes that I have ever made. I started with a Devil's food cake and added Devil's food pudding. Once that cake was baked, I melted 5 Snickers bars with a 1/2 cup whipping cream and poured it over both layers that were poked with holes. To finish it off I chopped up 3 more Snickers and topped it off with a ganache and carmel sauce. Only half of the cake was eaten after dinner, so half was left for my niece and her three friends who were spending the night. They planned to finish it off! I hope that there is plenty of milk to wash it down.

Grandma A turned 95!
Last weekend was the Armstrong family reunion. We celebrated Grandma Armstrong's 95th birthday. A photo cake was requested, but I was reluctant to order the photo's online and pay for shipping. So... I checked with our local grocery store and they will do the edible photo's for a very reasonable price while you wait! I hope you enjoyed your cake and your party Grandma A!

Cupcakes
I have been experimenting with cupcakes lately. I have forgotten to take pictures of most of them. The bright pink cupcakes were made for Kenzie to take to school. The others were the beginning of my flavor experiments. They were half raspberry cupcakes with whip cream frosting and half white cupcakes with raspberry flavored Swiss Meringue Buttercream. This was my first success with the Swiss Meringue Buttercream and I was very happy with how it turned out. Next I made chocolate cupcakes some with raspberry frosting and some with orange flavored frosting. I donated three dozen of these to the March of Dimes cake walk. Then for a baby shower a made chocolate raspberry cupcakes with dark chocolate chips in them. I frosted them with raspberry flavored buttercream and decorated them similar to the ones that you see above. I'm going to keep trying out new flavor combinations - maybe a hawiian theme next?
Easter Cakes
Mackenzie's 5th Birthday
Mackenzie had her 5th birthday party at Great Wolf Lodge. We spent two nights with Aunt Jen, Uncle Ryan, Benjamin and Jillian. Grandpa Alger joined us for one night. Grandpa and Grandma Simons came over to swim and party with us. Kenzie wanted a Barbie and the Diamond Castle cake, but I did not feel up to trying to do Barbie in frosting and she did not want another doll cake. Sooo, I printed a picture and laminated it for the top of the cake and decorated it in two of her favorite things, pink frosting and sprinkles. She liked it and we all had a great time!
